Super titre Funk : c'est rond, chaud, cela groove pas à s'en exploser les cervicales mais c'est suave et qd le chanteur se met à pousser ces "Hou hou..." je vois des étoiles.
Des disques vous mettent, parfois, le coeur en joie, et celui-ci me procure cette émotion.
La face B (2:38) est la continuité de la face A.
Je découvre pour mon plus grand bonheur qu'une version de plus de 6mn existe. Merci au label Funky Delicacies.

Originally scheduled for release on the famed Chess label, this album was scrapped in the early 70's because it was deemed to trippy for Chess' reputation. Muddy Waters and Donny Hathaway appear as session musicians on this psychadelic funk/soul offering. Fugi wrote the classic soul ballad "I'd Rather Go Blind", the original version of which appears for the first time.

With the long awaited release of Mary Don’t Take Me On No Bad Trip by Fugi, Funky Delicacies makes available the very best Psych-Funk music ever made. This genre, a function of the tripped out post LSD expressions of Midwestern Black musicians in the 60s, has been a huge underground phenomenon that has recently bubbled to the surface. Funky Delicacies has in fact already made a major contribution to this genre via Black Merda (Funky Delicacies DEL CD 0004). With this release, Funky Delicacies again proves its ability to flesh out music from the hardest to reach corners of the American music business. Central to this reissue is an unreleased album scheduled to have been released by Chess on the heels of his successful, if pro-drug single “Mary Don’t Take Me On No Bad Trip”, but was scrapped as the adventurousness of the 60s was yielding to the backlash of the 70s. Backed up by his Psych-Funk compadres Black Merda, and taken directly from master tapes, this music pulsates with a vividness that could reawaken brain cells lain dormant from acid trips of 35 years ago. This album is buttressed by other rarities not the least of which is “Red Moon” recorded for the short lived Grand Junction and again featuring the backing of Black Merda.
