Le dernier des Funky Drummers des JB's des 60's vient de s'éteindre...
Le frère de Maceo Parker, Melvin, a quitté son enveloppe charnelle.
Né en Caroline du Nord dans la ville de Kinston le 7 Juin 1944 avait rejoint le groupe du GFOS avec Maceo en Mai 1964.



Il restera dans les annales du Funk grâce aux titres sur lesquels il joue comme : "Out Of Sight", "Papa's Got A Brand New Bag" and "I Got You (I Feel Good)"...



Après des départs et retours au sein des JB's, (notamment pour former avec son frère le très funky Maceo & All the King's Men) il les quittera définitivement en 1977. On le verra encore dans les 90's avec son frangin, Fred et Pee Wee dans les J.B. Horns...

Je pensais que Melvin Parker était le frère ainé de Maceo Parker, après avoir vu un documentaire où il racontait un face à face avec James Brown (voir extrait) :

oui tu as raison Bluesy... Maceo Parker est né le 14 février 1943 donc il a un an de + que Melvin. Drôle que le gars qui m'a refilé la news, qui est bien connu dans le milieu musical aux US se soit planté, et je n'ai pas pensé à vérifier çà, vu la notoriété de cette personne...
