Après le paroxystique Feel Me, Cameo reviennent un an après en "chevaliers de la table du son" pour un funk toujours aussi furieux et exubérant.D
"Knights By Nights" : fatal et fulgurant comme une attaque cardiaque, la section cuivres est intarissable, impossible de la faire taire !
"Freaky Dancin" : taillé dans le diamant brut, du Cameo pur sucre !
"I Like It" : "one" aussi tranchants qu'un glaive romain, guitare rythmique ensorcelante telle la Tentation de Saint-Antoine, drumming virtuose marquant un tempo infernal ; danser là-dessus est presque une expérience mystique tant ça découpe, pulse et distille.
"Don't Be So Cool", où apparaît Nona Hendryx (ex-Labelle), est àmha un ton au-dessous des trois précédents, mais reste un très bon titre
Aux ballades ou mid tempo bien maîtrisés et qui font souvent penser à EWF ("I Never Knew", "Use It Or Lose It" et "I'll Always Stay"), Cameo ajoutent une innovation : le jam latino-brésilien avec "The Sound Table", un peu dans la veine de "Runnin" des mêmes Earth Wind & Fire sur les plans vocaux et rythmiques, mais avec un son plus métallique.
Peut-être un tout petit moins dense que Feel Me, Knights Of The Sound Table n'en maintient pas moins la barre encore très haut. C'est aussi le premier album où apparaît Charles Singleton, mais uniquement aux vocaux.
