R.I.P. Prince Rogers Nelson
Posté : 21 avr. 2016 18:41
A suivre...
"There's no question that as a life-long Hendrix fan, it was incredible and magical watching Prince do a surprise bluesy cover version of a snippet of Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower" during the Super Bowl 2007's half-time show. He once again completely flipped the script on everybody while never forgetting his roots.
Out of all the performers out there, Prince was the only one who I felt was capable of maintaining that direct link to Hendrix's sensuously searing guitar tone and visceral approach to music as he did there on that show, and on so many other occasions. He was able to express this spirit of elegant wildness and sexy abandon that Jimi so treasured, but also marrying it to James Brown's utterly funky approach to the groove, and then adding his peerless songwriting, provocative lyrics and endearing voice to make it so unmistakably his own.
To add another anecdote, I was equally stunned then properly thrilled upon learning that Prince had actually performed a live cover version of one of the songs I had worked on a bit, D Train's classic "You're The One For Me". And it sounded so fresh! I mean, he really kept his ear to the ground and never seemed to miss a single beat... wow!
As a DJ, there are few records I can think of that make it easy for me to get a guaranteed standing ovation at the end as usually happens when I drop "Purple Rain" into one of my sets. That's saying something quite special, coming from club audiences who for the most part appear increasingly conditioned to only respond to stuff with beats underneath.
But Prince was that rare kind of person who could effortlessly channel 'transcendence', and even through his records he could make us feel as if he passed a little piece of it onto everyone willing to listen. His boundless creative spirit and energy touched so many of us, and changed our lives forever through most everything he did.
This uniquely gifted, irreplaceable musical genius has left us. Hard to believe, and even harder coming to terms with it.
Thank you for all of the countless gifts you've so graciously bestowed upon us. We will love you forever.
RIP Prince Roger Nelson "
Histoire racontée par MUDBONE le chanteur bien connu du Rubber Band :
True Story
A few years ago I was invited by my dear friend/brother Larry Grahm, to join him, wife and Prince for an electrifying weekend as they were touring thru France and Belgium. Let me tell you, pure fun it was, as well as an honor, unforgettable moment, and exhilarating in every sense of the word. I recall watching the concert from the side of the stage, seeing Mint Condition throw down to a sold out festive audience, getting some booties moving and grooving, the one and only Grahm Central Station hitting so hard that they seemed to make the rain come down even harder, but the people never left, they just kept the party going to no end. I remember hugging and greeting my friend Prince as he was about to take the stage in the pouring rain, and when he came onstage, the rain stopped. If I hadn’t been there to witness it myself I would have found it quite hard to believe. He began mashing it up playing hit after hit, and had the crowd going crazy and dancing in the rain like it was a funky baptism. All of a sudden when he started playing the intro to Purple Rain, I declare before the Creator, the rain stopped and I said OMG, what an amazing presence to show that he was truly gifted in many ways, with something very special. I’ll miss my friend and I’m thankful that I got to work with him and to know him personally as a precious friend. May his soul R.I.P. with the Creator, and may his music echo in our hearts, minds, and the halls of Eternity. Thanks for sharing some of your life and time with me Prince.

Dear all,
yesterday was a surreal day.
Like all of you I was just not ready to say goodbye to this guy.
His music was the soundtrack to my life and by inviting me into his he shaped a big part of the path I have gone on since.
He believed in me before I believed in myself and for that I'm forever grateful!!
I feel so lucky to have been around him and his creative force and all these amazing people he surrounded himself with, I wish for everyone to enjoy his music for eternity, there is so much, he left us enough for centuries!
Much love to all!!
P.s. I have chosen to not be a part of any tv, -radioprograms and current tributes.
It just doesn't feel right and I like to honour him just by playing my a@* off. That's what he taught me, and it's what I think he would have wanted...
P.P.S. Bon ben je n'avais pas tort de me poser la question sur le décès d'une 'simple' grippe...
"Sadly Prince Rogers Nelson has passed away today aged 57 allegedly of AIDS. Sources say he contracted HIV in the 90's which he kept private. He turned his faith to the Jehovah Witness religion who have strong views on medicine and believed God can cure. HIV/AIDS has yet to be confirmed officially as the cause of death.
Prince has had a very weakened immune system over the past weeks, with those close to him reporting he had the flu. More details on his condition are no doubt forthcoming."
The rockstar has long been rumored to have contracted HIV/AIDS, which he was not medicating due to his membership in the Jehovah's Witnesses church. Our sources are saying Prince developed HIV in the 1990's, but more recently a couple friends and radical church goers, convinced him to withdraw from using protease inhibitors or other medications.
