non, That's the Way of the World est bien un album studio, et le support du film du même nom (avec le groupe au complet et Harvey Keitel) réalisé par Sig Shore (le producteur de Superfly), comme le rappelle Foxy dans ce topic dédié :

Donc TTWOTW est un album simple studio, tandis que Gratitude est un double live avec trois faces (moins un titre) live et une face studio, un procédé marketing classique à l'époque pour assurer les ventes de ce type d'album (Live in New-Orleans de Maze, Live at the Savoy de Rufus et Chakakhan, Live at London Palladium de Marvin Gaye, etc.).
Ce qui a plutôt bien marché puisque TTWOTW et Gratitude sont les deux seuls albums d'EWF a avoir atteint la première place des charts pop aux USA.
