Spinning Around: A History of the Soul LP: A - K Volume 1 - John LIAS
Hardcover – 1er Mars 2016

ISBN-13: 978-1526200723

This is the first and definitive attempt in book form to list and discuss thousands of soul LPs that were issued in the vinyl era.

Volume 1 addresses album releases by hundreds of artists from the famous - James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Bland, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Impressions and Aretha Franklin - to the much more obscure - John Byrd, Paul Kelly, Bill Coday, Harmon Bethea and Geater Davis.

Beautifully produced in hardback, with over 400 pages and 435,000 words, including 108 colour photographs of LP covers, Spinning Around : The History Of The Soul LP, Volume 1 : A - K, is the first truly comprehensive study of this topic ever undertaken anywhere in the world.

http://www.soul-source.co.uk/soulforum/ ... -released/

Je pense que c'est justifié. L'auteur, John Lias,a fait partie du classieux magazine anglais Voices From The Shadows dans les années 80 et il est très respecté là-bas.

Mais il n'y a que la moitié du travail de fait, et il s'en explique dans le lien que j'ai mis plus haut :"I think Volume 2 is probably at least a couple of years away. Volume 1 has 408 pages and 435,000 words. It took me three years. But I've learned a lot in that time about how to write a book and the countless hours i wasted by needless editing will save me loads and loads of time for Volume 2 , and I've already started it, but I don't expect it to take three years this time around. "

Voilà ce qu'écrivait Dusty Groove à ce sujet :" One of the best records ever from deep soul singer Paul Kelly".

A suivre.

L'auteur l'a présenté sur SDF : http://soulfuldetroit.com/showthread.ph ... post332640

Sur Spinning Around : A History Of The Soul LP John Lias a l'air d'avoir changé d'avis : "In summary, there were nine cuts on John Edwards and all were good and it is one of the best LPs from the seventies".
De John Edwards il commence par "This man was one of the most gifted of all soul singers. And who has heard of him ?".

On lui pardonne.
